Official Health Insurance Premiums 2026: +4.4% – Act Now and Save!
The official figures are here: The Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) announced the final health insurance premiums for 2026 on September 23, 2025. The average premium increases by 4.4% to 393.30 francs per month – that's 16.60 francs more than 2025.
Official FOPH announcement on premiums 2026
Why are premiums rising? According to FOPH, the main reasons are aging population, new treatment options, increasing demand for health services, and tariff increases in inpatient and outpatient care.
How to save: Despite premium increases, significant savings potential exists. Switching to the cheapest provider, choosing the right model (family doctor, HMO, Telmed) and the optimal deductible can save hundreds to thousands of francs per year.
Compare premiums: Use the official federal premium calculator to find the cheapest offers for your region and situation.
Deductible optimization: The deductible calculator helps you choose the optimal deductible.
Check premium reduction: Many people are entitled to premium reductions but don't know about it. Check your entitlement – it's worth it!
Important note: The chosen deductible should be available in a savings account so that high healthcare costs don't break your monthly budget!
⏰ IMPORTANT: Cancellation Deadline!
Your cancellation letter must reach your current health insurance by Friday, November 28, 2025 at the latest (last business day in November). The postmark is NOT sufficient!
Send the letter in time by registered mail or use your insurer's online cancellation.
Tip: Only cancel once you have the acceptance confirmation from the new health insurance!

Thinking about a voluntary KESB report? There are other ways
According to a recent SRF Tagesschau report, the number of KESB procedures is increasing. Many people voluntarily turn to the KESB because they are overwhelmed with administrative tasks.
Before you go to the KESB: If you are considering voluntarily reporting to the KESB because paperwork, finances or government procedures are getting on top of you – there are other ways of support.
Administrative help by your order:
• I do not act as a guardian, but provide assistance on a mandate basis
• You retain full control and decision-making freedom
• No official procedures or files
• Help only in the areas you want
• Can be terminated at any time if you no longer need help
Also possible in preparation: If a guardianship should become necessary later, I can also support you in preparing for it – so that you are optimally informed when entering a possible KESB procedure.
The free initial consultation shows whether this type of mandate-based help is sufficient for your situation.
